Development of the World’s Smallest Diameter Stepping Motor

Minebea Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called “Minebea”) has successfully developed and is set to begin accepting orders for sample shipment of a PM stepping motor with the world’s smallest diameter at a mere 3 mm.

South East Asian Region Sales Headquarters functions to be Moved to Thailand

The Board of Directors decided on March 23, 2007 to move the South East Asian Region Sales Headquarters functions, which is currently located in Singapore, to Thailand in the coming term (ending March 2008). Consequently, Minebea Technologies Pte. Ltd. will be liquidated following the move.

Minebea Co., Ltd. (Minebea) has been working toward responding to the RoHS restrictions, an EU Directive, on a Group-wide basis. Ahead of official implementation of these restrictions effective July 1, 2006, Minebea has confirmed plans to achieve complete elimination of the six restricted chemical substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium and hexavalent chromium from all its products and models, excluding those for special applications, such as aerospace components, etc., by the end of March 2006.

Minebea Co., Ltd. Announces Two Types of Backlight Systems

Minebea Co., Ltd. has successfully developed new backlight systems: medium-sized white LED backlight system and RGB-LED backlight system, and will release details at the FPD International 2004 to be held at Pacifico Yokohama tomorrow (October 20, 2004).

Backlight systems are key supporting assemblies for FPDs (flat panel displays), which have recently been used in a wide variety of products ranging from cellular phones to large TV sets.

Minebea Develops Two Types of New Fluid Dynamic Bearing Units

Minebea Co., Ltd. (“Minebea”) today announces the development of two types – ROF type and HMF type – of new fluid dynamic bearing (“FDB”) units.

The basic concept of the development is to produce high-performance, cost-competitive FDB units that are fit for mass-production. ROF type of FDB units have been developed by Minebea on its own, while HMF type of FDB units have been developed jointly with Hitachi Powdered Metals Co., Ltd. (“Hitachi Powdered Metals”). Both ROF type and HMF type of FDB units have high performance and cost competitiveness and are fit for mass-production.
